I’m not sure why it can’t locate the direct tree. Could it be possible that you at one point aborted the build while it was copying the “direct” tree to built/direct? If so, you may need to delete that directory and try building again to force it to copy the direct tree again.
Actually, that’s just for non-Windows platforms. Makepanda does look directly into the win-python directory in the thirdparty directory.
